The New Jerusalem Bible (NJB) is another good alternative to the NRSV. In some instances the NJB has some advantages over the NRSV, due to its equally excellent translation while maintaining many of the preferred Bible words used in the KJV and also used in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. (For example see "man" in Gen 1:26,26.) In other places it uses less traditional wording -- similar to that in the TEV -- in places where the NRSV uses more traditional wording. The NJB has an excellent textual basis and the scholarship behind it is honest and theologically objective.
