The Old Testament Library: The Book of Exodus, by Brevard Childs (Philadelphia: Westminster, 1974).

In his Exodus commentary Brevard Childs has comprehensively summarized and has intelligently further developed modern exegesis and exposition on the book of Exodus. Child's provides a very detailed examination of every verse in Exodus. Thoughout this volume, within each section, he provides:

  1. Comprehensive bibliography
  2. Detailed textual and philological notes
  3. Literary, form-critical, and/or traditio-historical analysis
  4. Old Testament context
  5. New Testament context
  6. History of exegesis
  7. Theological reflection

This is a masterpiece of sound Old Testament scholarship.
