<GT> Psalm 62

KJV w/Strong# - {7} In God <0430> [is] my salvation <03468> and my glory <03519>: the rock <06697> of my strength <05797>, [and] my refuge <04268>, [is] in God <0430>.

DHH - 7 De Dios dependen mi salvación y mi honor; él es mi protección y mi refugio.

NRSV - 7 On God rests my deliverance and my honor; my mighty rock, my refuge is in God.

TEV - "Confidence in God's Protection" - 3 How much longer will all of you attack a man who is no stronger than a broken-down fence? 4 You only want to bring him down from his place of honor; you take pleasure in lies. You speak words of blessing, but in your heart you curse him. 5 I depend on God alone; I put my hope in him. 6 He alone protects and saves me; he is my defender, and I shall never be defeated. 7 My salvation and honor depend on God; he is my strong protector; he is my shelter.

<RR1> Psalm 18

KJV w/Strong# - {1} I will love <07355> thee, O LORD <03068>, my strength <02391>. {2} The LORD <03068> [is] my rock <05553>, and my fortress <04686>, and my deliverer <06403>; my God <0410>, my strength <06697>, in whom I will trust <02620>; my buckler <04043>, and the horn <07161> of my salvation <03468>, [and] my high <04869> tower <04869>.

{6} In my distress <06862> I called <07121> upon the LORD <03068>, and cried <07768> unto my God <0430>: he heard <08085> my voice <06963> out of his temple <01964>, and my cry <07775> came <0935> before <06440> him, [even] into his ears <0241>.

{19} He brought <03318> me forth <03318> also into a large <04800> place <04800>; he delivered <02502> me, because <03588> he delighted <02654> in me.

{30} [As for] God <0410>, his way <01870> [is] perfect <08549>: the word <0565> of the LORD <03068> is tried <06884>: he [is] a buckler <04043> to all <03605> those that trust <02620> in him. {31} For who <04310> [is] God <0433> save <01107> the LORD <03068>? or <0176> who <04310> [is] a rock <06697> save <02108> our God <0430>?

NRSV - 1 I love you, O LORD, my strength. 2 The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer, my God, my rock in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

6 In my distress I called upon the LORD; to my God I cried for help. From his temple he heard my voice, and my cry to him reached his ears.

19 He brought me out into a broad place; he delivered me, because he delighted in me.

30 This God -- his way is perfect; the promise of the LORD proves true; he is a shield for all who take refuge in him. 31 For who is God except the LORD? And who is a rock besides our God? --

TEV - "David's Song of Victory" - 1 How I love you, LORD! You are my defender. 2 The LORD is my protector; he is my strong fortress. My God is my protection, and with him I am safe. He protects me like a shield; he defends me and keeps me safe. 3 I call to the LORD, and he saves me from my enemies. Praise the LORD! 4 The danger of death was all around me; the waves of destruction rolled over me. 5 The danger of death was around me, and the grave set its trap for me. 6 In my trouble I called to the LORD; I called to my God for help. In his temple he heard my voice; he listened to my cry for help.

16 The LORD reached down from above and took hold of me; he pulled me out of the deep waters. 17 He rescued me from my powerful enemies and from all those who hate me -- they were too strong for me. 18 When I was in trouble, they attacked me, but the LORD protected me. 19 He helped me out of danger; he saved me because he was pleased with me.

30 This God -- how perfect are his deeds! How dependable his words! He is like a shield for all who seek his protection. 31 The LORD alone is God; God alone is our defense. 32 He is the God who makes me strong, who makes my pathway safe. 33 He makes me sure-footed as a deer; he keeps me safe on the mountains. 34 He trains me for battle, so that I can use the strongest bow.

<RR2> Psalm 36

KJV w/Strong# - {5} Thy mercy <02617>, O LORD <03068>, [is] in the heavens <08064>; [and] thy faithfulness <0530> [reacheth] unto the clouds <07834>. {6} Thy righteousness <06666> [is] like the great <0410> mountains <02042>; thy judgments <04941> [are] a great <07227> deep <08415>: O LORD <03068>, thou preservest <03467> man <0120> and beast <0929>. {7} How <04100> excellent <03368> [is] thy lovingkindness <02617>, O God <0430>! therefore the children <01121> of men <0120> put their trust <02620> under the shadow <06738> of thy wings <03671>.

NRSV - 5 Your steadfast love, O LORD, extends to the heavens, your faithfulness to the clouds. 6 Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, your judgments are like the great deep; you save humans and animals alike, O LORD. 7 How precious is your steadfast love, O God! All people may take refuge in the shadow of your wings.

TEV - "The Goodness of God" - 5 LORD, your constant love reaches the heavens; your faithfulness extends to the skies. 6 Your righteousness is towering like the mountains; your justice is like the depths of the sea. Men and animals are in your care. 7 How precious, O God, is your constant love! We find protection under the shadow of your wings. 8 We feast on the abundant food you provide; you let us drink from the river of your goodness. 9 You are the source of all life, and because of your light we see the light. 10 Continue to love those who know you and to do good to those who are righteous. 11 Do not let proud men attack me or wicked men make me run away.

<B2> Psalm 139

KJV w/Strong# - {1} O LORD <03068>, thou hast searched <02713> me, and known <03045> [me]. {2} Thou knowest <03045> my downsitting <03427> and mine uprising <06965>, thou understandest <0995> my thought <07454> afar <07350> off. {3} Thou compassest <02219> my path <0734> and my lying <07252> down <07252>, and art acquainted <05532> [with] all <03605> my ways <01870>.

{5} Thou hast beset <06696> me behind <0268> and before <06924>, and laid <07896> thine hand <03709> upon me.

{14} I will praise <03034> thee; for I am fearfully <03372> [and] wonderfully <06395> made: marvellous <06381> [are] thy works <04639>; and [that] my soul <05315> knoweth <03045> right well.

13 You created every part of me; you put me together in my mother's womb. 14 I praise you because you are to be feared; all you do is strange and wonderful. I know it with all my heart. 15 When my bones were being formed, carefully put together in my mother's womb, when I was growing there in secret, you knew that I was there -- 16 you saw me before I was born. The days allotted to me had all been recorded in your book, before any of them ever began.

<B5> Genesis 6

KJV w/Strong# - {9} These <0428> [are] the generations <08435> of Noah <05146>: Noah <05146> was a just <06662> man <0376> [and] perfect <08549> in his generations <08435>, [and] Noah <05146> walked <01980> with God <0430>.

{12} And God <0430> looked <07200> upon the earth <0776>, and, behold <02009>, it was corrupt <07843>; for all <03605> flesh <01320> had corrupted <07843> his way upon the earth <0776>. {13} And God <0430> said <0559> unto Noah <05146>, The end <07093> of all <03605> flesh <01320> is come <0935> before <06440> me;...

{14} Make <06213> thee an ark <08392> of gopher <01613> wood <06086>; rooms <07064> shalt thou make <06213> in the ark <08392>, and shalt pitch <03724> it within <01004> and without <02351> with pitch <03724>.

{19} And of every <03605> living <02416> thing of all <03605> flesh <01320>, two <08147> of every <03605> [sort] shalt thou bring <0935> into <0413> the ark <08392>, to keep <08104> [them] alive <02421> with thee; they shall be male <02145> and female <05347>.

{22} Thus did <06213> Noah <05146>; according to all <03605> that God <0430> commanded <06680> him, so <03651> did <06213> he.

NRSV - 9 These are the descendants of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, blameless in his generation; Noah walked with God.

12 And God saw that the earth was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted its ways upon the earth. 13 And God said to Noah, "I have determined to make an end of all flesh,...

14 Make yourself an ark of cypress wood; make rooms in the ark, and cover it inside and out with pitch.

19 And of every living thing, of all flesh, you shall bring two of every kind into the ark, to keep them alive with you; they shall be male and female.

22 Noah did this; he did all that God commanded him.

TEV - "Noah" - 9...10 This is the story of Noah. He had three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth. Noah had no faults and was the only good man of his time. He lived in fellowship with God, 11 but everyone else was evil in God's sight, and violence had spread everywhere. 12 God looked at the world and saw that it was evil, for the people were all living evil lives. 13 God said to Noah, "I have decided to put an end to all mankind. I will destroy them completely, because the world is full of their violent deeds. 14 Build a boat for yourself out of good timber; make rooms in it and cover it with tar inside and out. 15 Make it 450 feet long, 75 feet wide, and 45 feet high. 16 Make a roof for the boat and leave a space of 18 inches between the roof and the sides. Build it with three decks and put a door in the side. 17 I am going to send a flood on the earth to destroy every living being. Everything on the earth will die, 18 but I will make a covenant with you. Go into the boat with your wife, your sons, and their wives. 19...20 Take into the boat with you a male and a female of every kind of animal and of every kind of bird, in order to keep them alive. 21 Take along all kinds of food for you and for them." 22 Noah did everything that God commanded.

<B6> Genesis 7

KJV w/Strong# - {1} And the LORD <03068> said <0559> unto Noah <05146>, Come <0935> thou and all <03605> thy house <01004> into <0413> the ark <08392>; for thee have I seen <07200> righteous <06662> before <06440> me in this <02088> generation <01755>.

{6} And Noah <05146> [was] six <08337> hundred <03967> years <08141> old <01121> when the flood <03999> of waters <04325> was upon the earth <0776>. {7} And Noah <05146> went <0935> in, and his sons <01121>, and his wife <0802>, and his sons <01121>' wives <0802> with him, into <0413> the ark <08392>, because <06440> of the waters <04325> of the flood <03999>.

{12} And the rain <01653> was upon the earth <0776> forty <0705> days <03117> and forty <0705> nights <03915>.

{17} And the flood <03999> was forty <0705> days <03117> upon the earth <0776>; and the waters <04325> increased <07235>, and bare <05375> up the ark <08392>, and it was lift <07311> up above <05921> the earth <0776>.

NRSV - 1 Then the LORD said to Noah, "Go into the ark, you and all your household, for I have seen that you alone are righteous before me in this generation.

6 Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters came on the earth. 7 And Noah with his sons and his wife and his sons' wives went into the ark to escape the waters of the flood.

12 The rain fell on the earth forty days and forty nights.

17 The flood continued forty days on the earth; and the waters increased, and bore up the ark, and it rose high above the earth.

TEV - "The Flood" - 1 The LORD said to Noah, "Go into the boat with your whole family; I have found that you are the only one in all the world who does what is right. 2 Take with you seven pairs of each kind of ritually clean animal, but only one pair of each kind of unclean animal. 3 Take also seven pairs of each kind of bird. Do this so that every kind of animal and bird will be kept alive to reproduce again on the earth. 4 Seven days from now I am going to send rain that will fall for forty days and nights, in order to destroy all the living beings that I have made." 5 And Noah did everything that the LORD commanded. 6 Noah was six hundred years old when the flood came on the earth. 7 He and his wife, and his sons and their wives, went into the boat to escape the flood. 8 A male and a female of every kind of animal and bird, whether ritually clean or unclean, 9 went into the boat with Noah, as God had commanded. 10 Seven days later the flood came. 11 When Noah was six hundred years old, on the seventeenth day of the second month all the outlets of the vast body of water beneath the earth burst open, all the floodgates of the sky were opened, 12 and rain fell on the earth for forty days and nights. 13 On that same day Noah and his wife went into the boat with their three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth, and their wives. 14 With them went every kind of animal, domestic and wild, large and small, and every kind of bird. 15 A male and a female of each kind of living being went into the boat with Noah, 16 as God had commanded. Then the LORD shut the door behind Noah. 17 The flood continued for forty days, and the water became deep enough for the boat to float. 18 The water became deeper, and the boat drifted on the surface. 19 It became so deep that it covered the highest mountains; 20 it went on rising until it was about twenty-five feet above the tops of the mountains. 21 Every living being on the earth died -- every bird, every animal, and every person. 22 Everything on earth that breathed died. 23 The LORD destroyed all living beings on the earth -- human beings, animals, and birds. The only ones left were Noah and those who were with him in the boat. 24 The water did not start going down for a hundred and fifty days.

<B7> Genesis 8

KJV w/Strong# - {1} And God <0430> remembered <02142> Noah <05146>, and every <03605> living <02416> thing, and all <03605> the cattle <0929> that [was] with him in the ark <08392>: and God <0430> made a wind <07307> to pass <05674> over <05921> the earth <0776>, and the waters <04325> asswaged <07918>;

{18} And Noah <05146> went <03318> forth <03318>, and his sons <01121>, and his wife <0802>, and his sons <01121>' wives <0802> with him: {19} Every <03605> beast <02416>, every <03605> creeping <07431> thing, and every <03605> fowl <05775>, [and] whatsoever <03605> creepeth <07430> upon the earth <0776>, after their kinds <04940>, went <03318> forth <03318> out of the ark <08392>.

DHH - 1Entonces Dios se acordó de Noé y de todos los animales que estaban con él en el arca. Hizo que el viento soplara sobre la tierra, y el agua comenzó a bajar;

NRSV - 1 But God remembered Noah and all the wild animals and all the domestic animals that were with him in the ark. And God made a wind blow over the earth, and the waters subsided;

18 So Noah went out with his sons and his wife and his sons' wives. 19 And every animal, every creeping thing, and every bird, everything that moves on the earth, went out of the ark by families.

TEV - "The End of the Flood" - 1 God had not forgotten Noah and all the animals with him in the boat; he caused a wind to blow, and the water started going down. 2 The outlets of the water beneath the earth and the floodgates of the sky were closed. The rain stopped, 3 and the water gradually went down for 150 days. 4 On the seventeenth day of the seventh month the boat came to rest on a mountain in the Ararat range. 5 The water kept going down, and on the first day of the tenth month the tops of the mountains appeared.

13 When Noah was 601 years old, on the first day of the first month, the water was gone. Noah removed the covering of the boat, looked around, and saw that the ground was getting dry. 14 By the twenty-seventh day of the second month the earth was completely dry. 15 God said to Noah, 16 "Go out of the boat with your wife, your sons, and their wives. 17 Take all the birds and animals out with you, so that they may reproduce and spread over all the earth." 18 So Noah went out of the boat with his wife, his sons, and their wives. 19 All the animals and birds went out of the boat in groups of their own kind.

<B8> Psalm 86

{7} In the day <03117> of my trouble <06869> I will call <07121> upon thee: for thou wilt answer <06030> me.

7 In the day of my trouble I call on you, for you will answer me.

TEV - "A Prayer for Help" - 1 Listen to me, LORD, and answer me, for I am helpless and weak. 2 Save me from death, because I am loyal to you; save me, for I am your servant and I trust in you. 3 You are my God, so be merciful to me; I pray to you all day long. 4 Make your servant glad, O Lord, because my prayers go up to you. 5 You are good to us and forgiving, full of constant love for all who pray to you. 6 Listen, LORD, to my prayer; hear my cries for help. 7 I call to you in times of trouble, because you answer my prayers.

<B9> Psalm 71

KJV w/Strong# - {16} I will go <0935> in the strength <01369> of the Lord <0136> GOD <03069>: I will make mention <02142> of thy righteousness <06666>, [even] of thine only <0905>.

NRSV - 16 I will come praising the mighty deeds of the Lord GOD, I will praise your righteousness, yours alone.

TEV - "An Old Man's Prayer" - 12 Don't stay so far away, O God; my God, hurry to my aid! 13 May those who attack me be defeated and destroyed. May those who try to hurt me be shamed and disgraced. 14 I will always put my hope in you; I will praise you more and more. 15 I will tell of your goodness; all day long I will speak of your salvation, though it is more than I can understand. 16 I will go in the strength of the LORD God; I will proclaim your goodness, yours alone.

<B10> Psalm 25

KJV w/Strong# - {15} Mine eyes <05869> [are] ever <08548> toward <0413> the LORD <03068>; for he shall pluck <03318> my feet <07272> out of the net <07568>.

{21} Let integrity <08537> and uprightness <03476> preserve <05341> me; for I wait <06960> on thee.

NRSV - 15 My eyes are ever toward the LORD, for he will pluck my feet out of the net.

21 May integrity and uprightness preserve me, for I wait for you.

TEV - "A Prayer for Guidance and Protection" - 15 I look to the LORD for help at all times, and he rescues me from danger. 16 Turn to me, LORD, and be merciful to me, because I am lonely and weak. 17 Relieve me of my worries and save me from all my troubles. 18 Consider my distress and suffering and forgive all my sins. 19 See how many enemies I have; see how much they hate me. 20 Protect me and save me; keep me from defeat. I come to you for safety. 21 May my goodness and honesty preserve me, because I trust in you.

<B11> Genesis 39

KJV w/Strong# - {2} And the LORD <03068> was with Joseph <03130>, and he was a prosperous <06743> man <0376>; and he was in the house <01004> of his master <0113> the Egyptian <04713>. {3} And his master <0113> saw <07200> that the LORD <03068> [was] with him, and that the LORD <03068> made all <03605> that he did <06213> to prosper <06743> in his hand <03027>. {4} And Joseph <03130> found <04672> grace <02580> in his sight <05869>, and he served <08334> him: and he made him overseer <06485> over <05921> his house <01004>, and all <03605> [that] he had <03426> he put <05414> into his hand <03027>.

{7} And it came <01961> to pass after <0310> these <0428> things <01697>, that his master's <0113> wife <0802> cast <05375> her eyes <05869> upon Joseph <03130>; and she said <0559>, Lie <07901> with me. {8} But he refused <03985>, and said <0559> unto his master's <0113> wife <0802>, Behold <02005>, my master <0113> wotteth <03045> not what <04100> [is] with me in the house <01004>, and he hath committed <05414> all <03605> that he hath <03426> to my hand <03027>; {9} [There is] none <0369> greater <01419> in this <02088> house <01004> than I; neither <03808> hath he kept <02820> back <02820> any <03972> thing <03972> from me but thee, because <0834> thou [art] his wife <0802>: how <0349> then can I do <06213> this <02063> great <01419> wickedness <07451>, and sin <02398> against God <0430>? And it came <01961> to pass, as she spake <01696> to Joseph <03130> day <03117> by day <03117>, that he hearkened <08085> not unto her, to lie <07901> by her, [or] to be with her.

NRSV - 2 The LORD was with Joseph, and he became a successful man; he was in the house of his Egyptian master. 3 His master saw that the LORD was with him, and that the LORD caused all that he did to prosper in his hands. 4 So Joseph found favor in his sight and attended him; he made him overseer of his house and put him in charge of all that he had.

7 And after a time his master's wife cast her eyes on Joseph and said, "Lie with me." 8 But he refused and said to his master's wife, "Look, with me here, my master has no concern about anything in the house, and he has put everything that he has in my hand. 9 He is not greater in this house than I am, nor has he kept back anything from me except yourself, because you are his wife. How then could I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?" 10 And although she spoke to Joseph day after day, he would not consent to lie beside her or to be with her.

TEV - "Joseph and Potiphar's Wife" - 1 Now the Ishmaelites had taken Joseph to Egypt and sold him to Potiphar, one of the king's officers, who was the captain of the palace guard. 2 The LORD was with Joseph and made him successful. He lived in the house of his Egyptian master, 3 who saw that the LORD was with Joseph and had made him successful in everything he did. 4 Potiphar was pleased with him and made him his personal servant; so he put him in charge of his house and everything he owned. 5 From then on, because of Joseph the LORD blessed the household of the Egyptian and everything that he had in his house and in his fields. 6 Potiphar turned over everything he had to the care of Joseph and did not concern himself with anything except the food he ate. Joseph was well-built and good-looking, 7 and after a while his master's wife began to desire Joseph and asked him to go to bed with her. 8 He refused and said to her, "Look, my master does not have to concern himself with anything in the house, because I am here. He has put me in charge of everything he has. 9 I have as much authority in this house as he has, and he has not kept back anything from me except you. How then could I do such an immoral thing and sin against God?" 10 Although she asked Joseph day after day, he would not go to bed with her.

<B12> 1 Corinthians 10

KJV w/Strong# - {13} There hath no <3756> temptation <3986> taken <2983> you but such as is common <442> to man <442>: but God <2316> [is] faithful <4103>, who <3739> will not suffer <1439> you to be tempted <3985> above <5228> that ye are able <1410>; but will with the temptation <3986> also <2532> make <4160> a way <1545> to escape <1545>, that ye may be able <1410> to bear <5297> [it].

NRSV - 13 No testing has overtaken you that is not common to everyone. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tested beyond your strength, but with the testing he will also provide the way out so that you may be able to endure it.

TEV - "Warnings against Idols" - 11 All these things happened to them as examples for others, and they were written down as a warning for us. For we live at a time when the end is about to come. 12 Whoever thinks he is standing firm had better be careful that he does not fall. 13 Every test that you have experienced is the kind that normally comes to people. But God keeps his promise, and he will not allow you to be tested beyond your power to remain firm; at the time you are put to the test, he will give you the strength to endure it, and so provide you with a way out.

<B13> Isaiah 33

KJV w/Strong# - {20} Look <02372> upon Zion <06726>, the city <07151> of our solemnities <04150>: thine eyes <05869> shall see <07200> Jerusalem <03389> a quiet <07600> habitation <05116>, a tabernacle <0168> [that] shall not be taken <06813> down; not one of the stakes <03489> thereof shall ever <05331> be removed <05265>, neither <01077> shall any <03605> of the cords <02256> thereof be broken <05423>.

{22} For the LORD <03068> [is] our judge <08199>, the LORD <03068> [is] our lawgiver <02710>, the LORD <03068> [is] our king <04428>; he will save <03467> us.

{24} And the inhabitant <07934> shall not say <0559>, I am sick <02470>: ...

NRSV - 20 Look on Zion, the city of our appointed festivals! Your eyes will see Jerusalem, a quiet habitation, an immovable tent, whose stakes will never be pulled up, and none of whose ropes will be broken.

22 For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our ruler, the LORD is our king; he will save us.

24 And no inhabitant will say, "I am sick";...

TEV - "The Glorious Future" - 17 Once again you will see a king ruling in splendor over a land that stretches in all directions. 18 Your old fears of foreign tax collectors and spies will be only a memory. 19 You will no longer see any arrogant foreigners who speak a language that you can't understand. 20 Look at Zion, the city where we celebrate our religious festivals. Look at Jerusalem! What a safe place it will be to live in! It will be like a tent that is never moved, whose pegs are never pulled up and whose ropes never break. 21 The LORD will show us his glory. We will live beside broad rivers and streams, but hostile ships will not sail on them. 22...23 All the rigging on those ships is useless; the sails cannot be spread! We will seize all the wealth of enemy armies, and there will be so much that even lame men can get a share. The LORD himself will be our king; he will rule over us and protect us. 24 No one who lives in our land will ever again complain of being sick, and all sins will be forgiven.

<B14> Psalm 91

KJV w/Strong# - {1} He that dwelleth <03427> in the secret <05643> place of the most <05945> High <05945> shall abide <03885> under the shadow <06738> of the Almighty <07706>. {2} I will say <0559> of the LORD <03068>, [He is] my refuge <04268> and my fortress <04686>: my God <0430>; in him will I trust <0982>. {3} Surely <03588> he shall deliver <05337> thee from the snare <06341> of the fowler <03353>, [and] from the noisome <01942> pestilence <01698>.

{9} Because <03588> thou hast made <07760> the LORD <03068>, [which is] my refuge <04268>, [even] the most <05945> High <05945>, thy habitation <04583>; {10} There shall no <03808> evil <07451> befall <0579> thee, neither <03808> shall any plague <05061> come <07126> nigh <07126> thy dwelling <0168>. {11} For he shall give his angels <04397> charge <06680> over thee, to keep <08104> thee in all <03605> thy ways <01870>.

NRSV - 1 You who live in the shelter of the Most High, who abide in the shadow of the Almighty, 2 will say to the LORD, "My refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust." 3 For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence;

9 Because you have made the LORD your refuge, the Most High your dwelling place, 10 no evil shall befall you, no scourge come near your tent. 11 For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.

TEV - "God Our Protector" - 1 Whoever goes to the LORD for safety, whoever remains under the protection of the Almighty, 2 can say to him, "You are my defender and protector. You are my God; in you I trust." 3 He will keep you safe from all hidden dangers and from all deadly diseases. 4 He will cover you with his wings; you will be safe in his care; his faithfulness will protect and defend you. 5 You need not fear any dangers at night or sudden attacks during the day 6 or the plagues that strike in the dark or the evils that kill in daylight.

9 You have made the LORD your defender, the Most High your protector, 10 and so no disaster will strike you, no violence will come near your home. 11 God will put his angels in charge of you to protect you wherever you go. 12 They will hold you up with their hands to keep you from hurting your feet on the stones. 13 You will trample down lions and snakes, fierce lions and poisonous snakes.

<B15> Psalm 34

KJV w/Strong# - {1} I will bless <01288> the LORD <03068> at all <03605> times <06256>: his praise <08416> [shall] continually <08548> [be] in my mouth <06310>.

{4} I sought <01875> the LORD <03068>, and he heard <06030> me, and delivered <05337> me from all <03605> my fears <04035>.

NRSV - 1 I will bless the LORD at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth.

4 I sought the LORD, and he answered me, and delivered me from all my fears.

TEV - "In Praise of God's Goodness" - 1 I will always thank the LORD; I will never stop praising him. 2 I will praise him for what he has done; may all who are oppressed listen and be glad! 3 Proclaim with me the LORD's greatness; let us praise his name together! 4 I prayed to the LORD, and he answered me; he freed me from all my fears. 5 The oppressed look to him and are glad; they will never be disappointed. 6 The helpless call to him, and he answers; he saves them from all their troubles. 7 His angel guards those who honor the LORD and rescues them from danger. 8 Find out for yourself how good the LORD is. Happy are those who find safety with him. 9 Honor the LORD, all his people; those who obey him have all they need. 10 Even lions go hungry for lack of food, but those who obey the LORD lack nothing good.

<B16> Psalm 62

KJV w/Strong# - {5} My soul <05315>, wait <01826> thou only <0389> upon God <0430>; for my expectation <08615> [is] from him. {6} He only <0389> [is] my rock <06697> and my salvation <03444>: [he is] my defence <04869>; I shall not be moved <04131>.

NRSV - 5 For God alone my soul waits in silence, for my hope is from him. 6 He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken.

<B17> John 11

KJV w/Strong# - {1} Now <1161> a certain <5100> [man] was sick <770>, [named] Lazarus <2976>, of Bethany <963>, the town <2968> of Mary <3137> and her sister <79> Martha <3136>.

{4} When Jesus <2424> heard <191> [that], he said <2036>, This <3778> sickness <769> is not unto death <2288>, but for the glory <1391> of God <2316>, that the Son <5207> of God <2316> might be glorified <1392> thereby <846>. {5} Now <1161> Jesus <2424> loved <25> Martha <3136>, and her sister <79>, and Lazarus <2976>. {6} When <5613> he had heard <191> therefore <3767> that he was sick <770>, he abode <3306> two <1417> days <2250> still in the same place <5117> where he was. {7} Then <1899> after <3326> that saith <3004> he to [his] disciples <3101>, Let us go <71> into <1519> Judaea <2449> again <3825>.

{11} These <5023> things <5023> said <2036> he: and after <3326> that he saith <3004> unto them, Our friend <5384> Lazarus <2976> sleepeth <2837>; but I go <4198>, that I may awake <1852> him out of sleep <1852>.

{17} Then <3767> when Jesus <2424> came <2064>, he found <2147> that he had [lain] in the grave <3419> four <5064> days <2250> already <2235>.

{41} Then <3767> they took <142> away the stone <3037> [from the place] where <3757> the dead <2348> was laid <2749>. And Jesus <2424> lifted <142> up <507> [his] eyes <3788>, and said <2036>, Father <3962>, I thank <2168> thee that thou hast heard <191> me. {42} And I knew <1492> that thou hearest <191> me always <3842>: but because <1223> of the people <3793> which <3588> stand <4026> by I said <2036> [it], that they may believe <4100> that thou hast sent <649> me. {43} And when he thus <5023> had spoken <2036>, he cried <2905> with a loud <3173> voice <5456>, Lazarus <2976>, come <1204> forth <1854>. {44} And he that was dead <2348> came <1831> forth <1831>, bound <1210> hand <5495> and foot <4228> with graveclothes <2750>: and his face <3799> was bound <4019> about <4019> with a napkin <4676>. Jesus <2424> saith <3004> unto them, Loose <3089> him, and let <863> him go <5217>.

NRSV - 1 Now a certain man was ill, Lazarus of Bethany, the village of Mary and her sister Martha.

4 But when Jesus heard it, he said, "This illness does not lead to death; rather it is for God's glory, so that the Son of God may be glorified through it." 5 Accordingly, though Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus, 6 after having heard that Lazarus was ill, he stayed two days longer in the place where he was. 7 Then after this he said to the disciples, "Let us go to Judea again."

11 After saying this, he told them, "Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep, but I am going there to awaken him."

17 When Jesus arrived, he found that Lazarus had already been in the tomb four days.

41 So they took away the stone. And Jesus looked upward and said, "Father, I thank you for having heard me. 42 I knew that you always hear me, but I have said this for the sake of the crowd standing here, so that they may believe that you sent me." 43 When he had said this, he cried with a loud voice, "Lazarus, come out!" 44 The dead man came out, his hands and feet bound with strips of cloth, and his face wrapped in a cloth. Jesus said to them, "Unbind him, and let him go."

TEV - "The Death of Lazarus" - 1 A man named Lazarus, who lived in Bethany, became sick. Bethany was the town where Mary and her sister Martha lived. (2 This Mary was the one who poured the perfume on the Lord's feet and wiped them with her hair; it was her brother Lazarus who was sick.) 3 The sisters sent Jesus a message: "Lord, your dear friend is sick." 4 When Jesus heard it, he said, "The final result of this sickness will not be the death of Lazarus; this has happened in order to bring glory to God, and it will be the means by which the Son of God will receive glory." 5 Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus. 6 Yet when he received the news that Lazarus was sick, he stayed where he was for two more days. 7 Then he said to the disciples, "Let us go back to Judea." 8 "Teacher," the disciples answered, "just a short time ago the people there wanted to stone you; and are you planning to go back?" 9 Jesus said, "A day has twelve hours, doesn't it? So whoever walks in broad daylight does not stumble, for he sees the light of this world. 10 But if he walks during the night he stumbles, because he has no light." 11 Jesus said this and then added, "Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep, but I will go and wake him up." 12 The disciples answered, "If he is asleep, Lord, he will get well."

"Jesus the Resurrection and the Life" - 17 When Jesus arrived, he found that Lazarus had been buried four days before. 18 Bethany was less than two miles from Jerusalem, 19 and many Judeans had come to see Martha and Mary to comfort them about their brother's death. 20 When Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went out to meet him, but Mary stayed in the house. 21 Martha said to Jesus, "If you had been here, Lord, my brother would not have died! 22 But I know that even now God will give you whatever you ask him for." 23 "Your brother will rise to life," Jesus told her. 24 "I know," she replied, "that he will rise to life on the last day."

"Lazarus Is Brought to Life" - 38 Deeply moved once more, Jesus went to the tomb, which was a cave with a stone placed at the entrance. 39 "Take the stone away!" Jesus ordered. Martha, the dead man's sister, answered, "There will be a bad smell, Lord. He has been buried four days!" 40 Jesus said to her, "Didn't I tell you that you would see God's glory if you believed?" 41 They took the stone away. Jesus looked up and said, "I thank you, Father, that you listen to me. 42 I know that you always listen to me, but I say this for the sake of the people here, so that they will believe that you sent me." 43 After he had said this, he called out in a loud voice, "Lazarus, come out!" 44 He came out, his hands and feet wrapped in grave cloths, and with a cloth around his face. "Untie him," Jesus told them, "and let him go."

{117} Hold <05582> thou me up, and I shall be safe <03467>: and I will have respect <08159> unto thy statutes <02706> continually <08548>.

114 Tú eres quien me ampara y me protege; en tu palabra he puesto mi esperanza.

117 Ayúdame, y estaré a salvo; así cumpliré siempre tus leyes.

NRSV - 89 The LORD exists forever; your word is firmly fixed in heaven.

97 Oh, how I love your law! It is my meditation all day long.

112 I incline my heart to perform your statutes forever, to the end.

114 You are my hiding place and my shield; I hope in your word.

117 Hold me up, that I may be safe and have regard for your statutes continually.

TEV - "Faith in the Law of the LORD" - 89 Your word, O LORD, will last forever; it is eternal in heaven. 90 Your faithfulness endures through all the ages; you have set the earth in place, and it remains. 91 All things remain to this day because of your command, because they are all your servants. 92 If your law had not been the source of my joy, I would have died from my sufferings. 93 I will never neglect your instructions, because by them you have kept me alive. 94 I am yours -- save me! I have tried to obey your commands. 95 Wicked men are waiting to kill me, but I will meditate on your laws.

"Love for the Law of the LORD" - 97 How I love your law! I think about it all day long. 98 Your commandment is with me all the time and makes me wiser than my enemies. 99 I understand more than all my teachers, because I meditate on your instructions. 100 I have greater wisdom than old men, because I obey your commands. 101 I have avoided all evil conduct, because I want to obey your word. 102 I have not neglected your instructions, because you yourself are my teacher. 103 How sweet is the taste of your instructions -- sweeter even than honey!

"Light from the Law of the LORD" - 109 I am always ready to risk my life; I have not forgotten your law. 110 Wicked men lay a trap for me, but I have not disobeyed your commands. 111 Your commandments are my eternal possession; they are the joy of my heart. 112 I have decided to obey your laws until the day I die.

"Safety in the Law of the LORD" - 113 I hate those who are not completely loyal to you, but I love your law. 114 You are my defender and protector; I put my hope in your promise. 115 Go away from me, you sinful people. I will obey the commands of my God. 116 Give me strength, as you promised, and I shall live; don't let me be disappointed in my hope! 117 Hold me, and I will be safe, and I will always pay attention to your commands. 118 You reject everyone who disobeys your laws; their deceitful schemes are useless. 119 You treat all the wicked like rubbish, and so I love your instructions.

<B19> Psalm 71

KJV w/Strong# - {3} Be thou my strong <06697> habitation <04583>, whereunto I may continually <08548> resort <0935>: thou hast given commandment <06680> to save <03467> me; for thou [art] my rock <05553> and my fortress <04686>.

{5} For thou [art] my hope <08615>, O Lord <0136> GOD <03069>: [thou art] my trust <04004> from my youth <05271>.

NRSV - 3 Be to me a rock of refuge, a strong fortress, to save me, for you are my rock and my fortress.

5 For you, O Lord, are my hope, my trust, O LORD, from my youth.

TEV - "An Old Man's Prayer" - 1 LORD, I have come to you for protection; never let me be defeated! 2 Because you are righteous, help me and rescue me. Listen to me and save me! 3 Be my secure shelter and a strong fortress to protect me; you are my refuge and defense. 4 My God, rescue me from wicked men, from the power of cruel and evil men. 5 Sovereign LORD, I put my hope in you; I have trusted in you since I was young. 6 I have relied on you all my life; you have protected me since the day I was born. I will always praise you.

<B20> 1 John 5

KJV w/Strong# - {3} For this <3778> is the love <26> of God <2316>, that we keep <5083> his commandments <1785>: and his commandments <1785> are not grievous <926>.

NRSV - 3 For the love of God is this, that we obey his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome,

TEV - "Our Victory over the World" - 1 Whoever believes that Jesus is the Messiah is a child of God; and whoever loves a father loves his child also. 2 This is how we know that we love God's children: it is by loving God and obeying his commands. 3 For our love for God means that we obey his commands. And his commands are not too hard for us, 4 because every child of God is able to defeat the world. And we win the victory over the world by means of our faith. 5 Who can defeat the world? Only the person who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.

<B21> 1 John 4

KJV w/Strong# - {16} And we have known <1097> and believed <4100> the love <26> that God <2316> hath <2192> to us. God <2316> is love <26>; and he that dwelleth <3306> in love <26> dwelleth <3306> in God <2316>, and God <2316> in him.

{19} We <1473> love <25> him <846>, because <3754> he <846> first <4413> loved <25> us <1473>.

NRSV - 16 So we have known and believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and those who abide in love abide in God, and God abides in them.

19 We love because he first loved us.

TEV - "God Is Love" - 15 If anyone declares that Jesus is the Son of God, he lives in union with God and God lives in union with him. 16 And we ourselves know and believe the love which God has for us. God is love, and whoever lives in love lives in union with God and God lives in union with him. 17 Love is made perfect in us in order that we may have courage on the Judgment Day; and we will have it because our life in this world is the same as Christ's. 18 There is no fear in love; perfect love drives out all fear. So then, love has not been made perfect in anyone who is afraid, because fear has to do with punishment. 19 We love because God first loved us. 20 If someone says he loves God, but hates his brother, he is a liar. For he cannot love God, whom he has not seen, if he does not love his brother, whom he has seen. 21 The command that Christ has given us is this: whoever loves God must love his brother also.

<B22> Philippians 4

KJV w/Strong# - {1} Therefore <5620>, my brethren <80> dearly beloved <27> and longed <1973> for, my joy <5479> and crown <4735>, so <3779> stand <4739> fast in the Lord <2962>, [my] dearly beloved <27>.

{7} And the peace <1515> of God <2316>, which <3588> passeth <5242> all <3956> understanding <3563>, shall keep <5432> your <5216> hearts <2588> and minds <3540> through <1722> Christ <5547> Jesus <2424>.

NRSV - 1 Therefore, my brothers and sisters, whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, stand firm in the Lord in this way, my beloved.

7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

TEV - "Instructions" - 1 So then, my brothers, how dear you are to me and how I miss you! How happy you make me, and how proud I am of you! -- this, dear brothers, is how you should stand firm in your life in the Lord. 2 Euodia and Syntyche, please, I beg you, try to agree as sisters in the Lord. 3 And you too, my faithful partner, I want you to help these women; for they have worked hard with me to spread the gospel, together with Clement and all my other fellow workers, whose names are in God's book of the living. 4 May you always be joyful in your union with the Lord. I say it again: rejoice! 5 Show a gentle attitude toward everyone. The Lord is coming soon. 6 Don't worry about anything, but in all your prayers ask God for what you need, always asking him with a thankful heart. 7 And God's peace, which is far beyond human understanding, will keep your hearts and minds safe in union with Christ Jesus. 8 In conclusion, my brothers, fill your minds with those things that are good and that deserve praise: things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and honorable. 9 Put into practice what you learned and received from me, both from my words and from my actions. And the God who gives us peace will be with you.
