KJV w/Strong# - {2} My soul <05315> thirsteth <06770> for God <0430>, for the living <02416> God <0410>:...

NRSV - 2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God...

TEV - "The Prayer of a Man in Exile" - 1 As a deer longs for a stream of cool water, so I long for you, O God. 2 I thirst for you, the living God. When can I go and worship in your presence? 3 Day and night I cry, and tears are my only food; all the time my enemies ask me, "Where is your God?"

<RR1> Psalm 61

KJV w/Strong# - {1} Hear <08085> my cry <07440>, O God <0430>; attend <07181> unto my prayer <08605>. {2} From the end <07097> of the earth <0776> will I cry <07121> unto thee, when my heart <03820> is overwhelmed <05848>: lead <05148> me to the rock <06697> [that] is higher <07311> than I. {3} For thou hast been <01961> a shelter <04268> for me, [and] a strong <05797> tower <04026> from the enemy <0341>. {4} I will abide <01481> in thy tabernacle <0168> for ever <05769>: I will trust <02620> in the covert <05643> of thy wings <03671>. {5} For thou, O God <0430>, hast heard <08085> my vows <05088>: thou hast given <05414> [me] the heritage <03425> of those that fear <03373> thy name <08034>.

NRSV - 1 Hear my cry, O God; listen to my prayer. 2 From the end of the earth I call to you, when my heart is faint. Lead me to the rock that is higher than I; 3 for you are my refuge, a strong tower against the enemy. 4 Let me abide in your tent forever, find refuge under the shelter of your wings. 5 For you, O God, have heard my vows; you have given me the heritage of those who fear your name.

TEV - "A Prayer for Protection" - 1 Hear my cry, O God; listen to my prayer! 2 In despair and far from home I call to you! Take me to a safe refuge, 3 for you are my protector, my strong defense against my enemies. 4 Let me live in your sanctuary all my life; let me find safety under your wings. 5 You have heard my promises, O God, and you have given me what belongs to those who honor you. 6 Add many years to the king's life; let him live on and on! 7 May he rule forever in your presence, O God; protect him with your constant love and faithfulness. 8 So I will always sing praises to you, as I offer you daily what I have promised.

<RR2> Psalm 119

KJV w/Strong# - {73} Thy hands <03027> have made <06213> me and fashioned <03559> me: give me understanding <0995>, that I may learn <03925> thy commandments <04687>.

{105} Thy word <01697> [is] a lamp <05216> unto my feet <07272>, and a light <0216> unto my path <05410>.

{111} Thy testimonies <05715> have I taken as an heritage <05157> for ever <05769>: for they [are] the rejoicing <08342> of my heart <03820>.

{116} Uphold <05564> me according unto thy word <0565>, that I may live <02421>: and let me not be ashamed <0954> of my hope <07664>.

{144} The righteousness <06664> of thy testimonies <05715> [is] everlasting <05769>: give me understanding <0995>, and I shall live <02421>.

116 Dame fuerzas, conforme a tu promesa, y viviré; ¡no defraudes mi esperanza!

NRSV - 73 Your hands have made and fashioned me; give me understanding that I may learn your commandments.

105 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

111 Your decrees are my heritage forever; they are the joy of my heart.

116 Uphold me according to your promise, that I may live, and let me not be put to shame in my hope.

144 Your decrees are righteous forever; give me understanding that I may live.

TEV - "The Justice of the Law of the LORD" - 73 You created me, and you keep me safe; give me understanding, so that I may learn your laws. 74 Those who honor you will be glad when they see me, because I trust in your promise. 75 I know that your judgments are righteous, LORD, and that you punished me because you are faithful. 76 Let your constant love comfort me, as you have promised me, your servant. 77 Have mercy on me, and I will live because I take pleasure in your law. 78 May the proud be ashamed for falsely accusing me; as for me, I will meditate on your instructions.

"Light from the Law of the LORD" - 105 Your word is a lamp to guide me and a light for my path. 106 I will keep my solemn promise to obey your just instructions. 107 My sufferings, LORD, are terrible indeed; keep me alive, as you have promised. 108 Accept my prayer of thanks, O LORD, and teach me your commands. 109 I am always ready to risk my life; I have not forgotten your law. 110 Wicked men lay a trap for me, but I have not disobeyed your commands. 111 Your commandments are my eternal possession; they are the joy of my heart. 112 I have decided to obey your laws until the day I die.

"Safety in the Law of the LORD" - 113 I hate those who are not completely loyal to you, but I love your law. 114 You are my defender and protector; I put my hope in your promise. 115 Go away from me, you sinful people. I will obey the commands of my God. 116 Give me strength, as you promised, and I shall live; don't let me be disappointed in my hope! 117 Hold me, and I will be safe, and I will always pay attention to your commands. 118 You reject everyone who disobeys your laws; their deceitful schemes are useless. 119 You treat all the wicked like rubbish, and so I love your instructions.

"The Justice of the Law of the LORD" - 144 Your instructions are always just; give me understanding, and I shall live.

<B1> Psalm 90

KJV w/Strong# - {1} Lord <0136>, thou hast been <01961> our dwelling <04583> place in all generations <01755>. {2} Before <02962> the mountains <02022> were brought <03205> forth <03205>, or ever thou hadst formed <02342> the earth <0776> and the world <08398>, even from everlasting <05769> to everlasting <05769>, thou [art] God <0410>.

{4} For a thousand <0505> years <08141> in thy sight <05869> [are but] as yesterday <0865> when <03588> it is past <05674>, and [as] a watch <0821> in the night <03915>.

NRSV - 1 Lord, you have been our dwelling place in all generations. 2 Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.

4 For a thousand years in your sight are like yesterday when it is past, or like a watch in the night.

TEV - "Of God and Man" - 1 O Lord, you have always been our home. 2 Before you created the hills or brought the world into being, you were eternally God, and will be God forever. 3 You tell man to return to what he was; you change him back to dust. 4 A thousand years to you are like one day; they are like yesterday, already gone, like a short hour in the night. 5 You carry us away like a flood; we last no longer than a dream. We are like weeds that sprout in the morning, 6 that grow and burst into bloom, then dry up and die in the evening. 7 We are destroyed by your anger; we are terrified by your fury. 8 You place our sins before you, our secret sins where you can see them.

<B2> Psalm 119

KJV w/Strong# - {16} I will delight <08173> myself in thy statutes <02708>: I will not forget <07911> thy word <01697>. {17} Deal <01580> bountifully <01580> with thy servant <05650>, [that] I may live <02421>, and keep <08104> thy word <01697>.

{25} My soul <05315> cleaveth <01692> unto the dust <06083>: quicken <02421> thou me according to thy word <01697>.

{37} Turn <05674> away mine eyes <05869> from beholding <07200> vanity <07723>; [and] quicken <02421> thou me in thy way <01870>.

NRSV - 16 I will delight in your statutes; I will not forget your word. 17 Deal bountifully with your servant, so that I may live and observe your word.

25 My soul clings to the dust; revive me according to your word.

37 Turn my eyes from looking at vanities; give me life in your ways.

TEV - "Obedience to the Law of the LORD" - 9 How can a young man keep his life pure? By obeying your commands. 10 With all my heart I try to serve you; keep me from disobeying your commandments. 11 I keep your law in my heart, so that I will not sin against you. 12 I praise you, O LORD; teach me your ways. 13 I will repeat aloud all the laws you have given. 14 I delight in following your commands more than in having great wealth. 15 I study your instructions; I examine your teachings. 16 I take pleasure in your laws; your commands I will not forget.

"Happiness in the Law of the LORD" - 17 Be good to me, your servant, so that I may live and obey your teachings. 18 Open my eyes, so that I may see the wonderful truths in your law. 19 I am here on earth for just a little while; do not hide your commands from me. 20 My heart aches with longing; I want to know your judgments at all times. 21 You reprimand the proud; cursed are those who disobey your commands. 22 Free me from their insults and scorn, because I have kept your laws. 23 The rulers meet and plot against me, but I will study your teachings.

"Determination to Obey the Law of the LORD" - 25 I lie defeated in the dust; revive me, as you have promised. 26 I confessed all I have done, and you answered me; teach me your ways.

"A Prayer for Understanding" - 33 Teach me, LORD, the meaning of your laws, and I will obey them at all times. 34 Explain your law to me, and I will obey it; I will keep it with all my heart. 35 Keep me obedient to your commandments, because in them I find happiness. 36 Give me the desire to obey your laws rather than to get rich. 37 Keep me from paying attention to what is worthless; be good to me, as you have promised. 38 Keep your promise to me, your servant -- the promise you make to those who obey you. 39 Save me from the insults I fear; how wonderful are your judgments!

<B3> Proverbs 2

KJV w/Strong# - {6} For the LORD <03068> giveth <05414> wisdom <02451>: out of his mouth <06310> [cometh] knowledge <01847> and understanding <08394>.

NRSV - 6 For the LORD gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding;

TEV - "The Rewards of Wisdom" - 1 Son, learn what I teach you and never forget what I tell you to do. 2 Listen to what is wise and try to understand it. 3 Yes, beg for knowledge; plead for insight. 4 Look for it as hard as you would for silver or some hidden treasure. 5 If you do, you will know what it means to fear the LORD and you will succeed in learning about God. 6 It is the LORD who gives wisdom; from him come knowledge and understanding. 7 He provides help and protection for righteous, honest men. 8 He protects those who treat others fairly, and guards those who are devoted to him.

<B4> Proverbs 4

KJV w/Strong# - {10} Hear <08085>, O my son <01121>, and receive <03947> my sayings <0561>; and the years <08141> of thy life <02416> shall be many <07235>. {11} I have taught <03384> thee in the way <01870> of wisdom <02451>; I have led <01869> thee in right <03476> paths <04570>.

{23} Keep <05341> thy heart <03820> with all <03605> diligence <04929>; for out of it [are] the issues <08444> of life <02416>.

NRSV - 10 Hear, my child, and accept my words, that the years of your life may be many. 11 I have taught you the way of wisdom; I have led you in the paths of uprightness.

23 Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.

TEV - "The Benefits of Wisdom" - 10 Listen to me, son. Take seriously what I am telling you, and you will live a long life. 11 I have taught you wisdom and the right way to live. 12 Nothing will stand in your way if you walk wisely, and you will not stumble when you run. 13 Always remember what you have learned. Your education is your life -- guard it well. 14 Do not go where evil men go. Do not follow the example of the wicked. 15 Don't do it! Keep away from evil! Refuse it and go on your way. 16 Wicked people cannot sleep unless they have done something wrong. They lie awake unless they have hurt someone. 17 Wickedness and violence are like food and drink to them.

20 Son, pay attention to what I say. Listen to my words. 21 Never let them get away from you. Remember them and keep them in your heart. 22 They will give life and health to anyone who understands them. 23 Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts. 24 Never say anything that isn't true. Have nothing to do with lies and misleading words. 25 Look straight ahead with honest confidence; don't hang your head in shame. 26 Plan carefully what you do, and whatever you do will turn out right. 27 Avoid evil and walk straight ahead. Don't go one step off the right way.

<B5> Psalm 89

KJV w/Strong# - {15} Blessed <0835> [is] the people <05971> that know <03045> the joyful <08643> sound <08643>: they shall walk <01980>, O LORD <03068>, in the light <0216> of thy countenance <06440>. {16} In thy name <08034> shall they rejoice <01523> all <03605> the day <03117>: and in thy righteousness <06666> shall they be exalted <07311>. {17} For thou [art] the glory <08597> of their strength <05797>: and in thy favour <07522> our horn <07161> shall be exalted <07311>.

NRSV - 15 Happy are the people who know the festal shout, who walk, O LORD, in the light of your countenance; 16 they exult in your name all day long, and extol your righteousness. 17 For you are the glory of their strength; by your favor our horn is exalted.

TEV - "A Hymn in Time of National Trouble" - 15 How happy are the people who worship you with songs, who live in the light of your kindness! 16 Because of you they rejoice all day long, and they praise you for your goodness. 17 You give us great victories; in your love you make us triumphant. 18 You, O LORD, chose our protector; you, the Holy God of Israel, gave us our king.

<B6> Psalm 27

KJV w/Strong# - {1} The LORD <03068> [is] my light <0216> and my salvation <03468>; whom <04310> shall I fear <03372>? the LORD <03068> [is] the strength <04581> of my life <02416>; of whom <04310> shall I be afraid <06342>?

{14} Wait <06960> on the LORD <03068>: be of good courage <02388>, and he shall strengthen <0553> thine heart <03820>: wait <06960>, I say, on the LORD <03068>.

¡Ten valor, no te desanimes! ¡Sí, ten confianza en el Señor!

NRSV - 1 The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

14 Wait for the LORD; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the LORD!

TEV - "A Prayer of Praise" - 1 The LORD is my light and my salvation; I will fear no one. The LORD protects me from all danger; I will never be afraid.

11 Teach me, LORD, what you want me to do, and lead me along a safe path, because I have many enemies. 12 Don't abandon me to my enemies, who attack me with lies and threats. 13 I know that I will live to see the LORD's goodness in this present life. 14 Trust in the LORD. Have faith, do not despair. Trust in the LORD.

<B7> Isaiah 40

KJV w/Strong# - {28} Hast thou not known <03045>? hast thou not heard <08085>, [that] the everlasting <05769> God <0430>, the LORD <03068>, the Creator <01254> of the ends <07098> of the earth <0776>, fainteth <03286> not, neither <03808> is weary <03021>? [there is] no <0369> searching <02714> of his understanding <08394>. {29} He giveth <05414> power <03581> to the faint <03287>; and to [them that have] no <0369> might <0202> he increaseth <07235> strength <06109>. {30} Even the youths <05288> shall faint <03286> and be weary <03021>, and the young men shall utterly fall <03782>: {31} But they that wait <06960> upon the LORD <03068> shall renew <02498> [their] strength <03581>; they shall mount <05927> up with wings <083> as eagles <05404>; they shall run <07323>, and not be weary <03021>; [and] they shall walk <03212>, and not faint <03286>.

DHH - 28 ¿Acaso no lo sabes? ¿No lo has oído?

NRSV - 28 Have you not known? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. 29 He gives power to the faint, and strengthens the powerless. 30 Even youths will faint and be weary, and the young will fall exhausted; 31 but those who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.

TEV - "Israel's Incomparable God" - 27 Israel, why then do you complain that the LORD doesn't know your troubles or care if you suffer injustice? 28 Don't you know? Haven't you heard? The LORD is the everlasting God; he created all the world. He never grows tired or weary. No one understands his thoughts. 29 He strengthens those who are weak and tired. 30 Even those who are young grow weak; young men can fall exhausted. 31 But those who trust in the LORD for help will find their strength renewed. They will rise on wings like eagles; they will run and not get weary; they will walk and not grow weak.

<B8> 1 Corinthians 1

KJV w/Strong# - {3} Grace <5485> [be] unto you, and peace <1515>, from God <2316> our Father <3962>, and [from] the Lord <2962> Jesus <2424> Christ <5547>. {4} I thank <2168> my God <2316> always <3842> on <4012> your <5216> behalf <4012>, for the grace <5485> of God <2316> which <3588> is given <1325> you by Jesus <2424> Christ <5547>;

NRSV - 3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 4 I give thanks to my God always for you because of the grace of God that has been given you in Christ Jesus,

TEV - "Greeting" - 1 From Paul, who was called by the will of God to be an apostle of Christ Jesus, and from our brother Sosthenes -- 2 To the church of God which is in Corinth, to all who are called to be God's holy people, who belong to him in union with Christ Jesus, together with all people everywhere who worship our Lord Jesus Christ, their Lord and ours: 3 May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace.

"Blessings in Christ" - 4 I always give thanks to my God for you because of the grace he has given you through Christ Jesus. 5 For in union with Christ you have become rich in all things, including all speech and all knowledge. 6 The message about Christ has become so firmly established in you 7 that you have not failed to receive a single blessing, as you wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed. 8 He will also keep you firm to the end, so that you will be faultless on the Day of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 God is to be trusted, the God who called you to have fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ, our Lord.

<B9> 1Corinthians 7

KJV w/Strong# - {3} Let the husband <435> render <591> unto the wife <1135> due <3784> benevolence <2133>: and likewise <3668> also <2532> the wife <1135> unto the husband <435>.

NRSV - 3 The husband should give to his wife her conjugal rights, and likewise the wife to her husband.

TEV - "Questions about Marriage" - 1 Now, to deal with the matters you wrote about. A man does well not to marry. 2 But because there is so much immorality, every man should have his own wife, and every woman should have her own husband. 3 A man should fulfill his duty as a husband, and a woman should fulfill her duty as a wife, and each should satisfy the other's needs. 4 A wife is not the master of her own body, but her husband is; in the same way a husband is not the master of his own body, but his wife is.

<B10> 1 Peter 3

KJV w/Strong# - {8} ...[be ye] all <3956> of one <3675> mind <3675>, having compassion <4835> one of another <4835>, love <5361> as brethren <5361>, [be] pitiful <2155>, [be] courteous <5391>: {9} Not rendering <591> evil <2556> for evil <2556>, or <2228> railing <3059> for railing <3059>: but contrariwise <5121> blessing <2129>; knowing <1492> that ye are thereunto <5124> called <2564>, that ye should inherit <2816> a blessing <2127>. {10} For he that will <2309> love <25> life <2222>, and see <1492> good <18> days <2250>, let him refrain <3973> his tongue <1100> from evil <2556>, and his lips <5491> that they speak <2980> no <3361> guile <1388>: {11} Let him eschew <1578> evil <2556>, and do <4160> good <18>; let him seek <2212> peace <1515>, and ensue <1377> it. {12} For the eyes <3788> of the Lord <2962> [are] over <1909> the righteous <1342>, and his ears <3775> [are open] unto their prayers <1162>:...

NRSV - 8 ...all of you, have unity of spirit, sympathy, love for one another, a tender heart, and a humble mind. 9 Do not repay evil for evil or abuse for abuse; but, on the contrary, repay with a blessing. It is for this that you were called -- that you might inherit a blessing. 10 For "Those who desire life and desire to see good days, let them keep their tongues from evil and their lips from speaking deceit; 11 let them turn away from evil and do good; let them seek peace and pursue it. 12 For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayer..."

TEV - "Suffering for Doing Right" - 8 To conclude: you must all have the same attitude and the same feelings; love one another as brothers, and be kind and humble with one another. 9 Do not pay back evil with evil or cursing with cursing; instead, pay back with a blessing, because a blessing is what God promised to give you when he called you. 10 As the scripture says, "Whoever wants to enjoy life and wishes to see good times, must keep from speaking evil and stop telling lies. 11 He must turn away from evil and do good; he must strive for peace with all his heart. 12 For the Lord watches over the righteous and listens to their prayers; but he opposes those who do evil."

TEV - "A Prayer for Help" - 1 Our enemies are doomed! They have robbed and betrayed, although no one has robbed them or betrayed them. But their time to rob and betray will end, and they themselves will become victims of robbery and treachery. 2 LORD, have mercy on us. We have put our hope in you. Protect us day by day and save us in times of trouble. 3 When you fight for us, nations run away from the noise of battle. 4 Their belongings are pounced upon and taken as loot. 5 How great the LORD is! He rules over everything. He will fill Jerusalem with justice and integrity 6 and give stability to the nation. He always protects his people and gives them wisdom and knowledge. Their greatest treasure is their reverence for the LORD.

DHH - 17 La justicia producirá paz, tranquilidad y confianza para siempre.

NRSV - 17 The effect of righteousness will be peace, and the result of righteousness, quietness and trust forever.

TEV - "Judgment and Restoration" - 15 But once more God will send us his spirit. The wasteland will become fertile, and fields will produce rich crops. 16 Everywhere in the land righteousness and justice will be done. 17 Because everyone will do what is right, there will be peace and security forever. 18 God's people will be free from worries, and their homes peaceful and safe. (19 But hail will fall on the forests, and the city will be torn down.) 20 How happy everyone will be with plenty of water for the crops and safe pasture everywhere for the donkeys and cattle.

<B16> Luke 18

KJV w/Strong# - {18} And a certain <5100> ruler <758> asked <1905> him, saying <3004>, Good <18> Master <1320>, what <5101> shall I do <4160> to inherit <2816> eternal <166> life <2222>? {19} And Jesus <2424> said <2036> unto him, Why <5101> callest <3004> thou me good <18>? none <3762> [is] good <18>, save <1508> one <1520>, [that is], God <2316>. {20} Thou knowest <1492> the commandments <1785>, Do not commit <3431> adultery <3431>, Do not kill <5407>, Do not steal <2813>, Do not bear <5576> false <5576> witness <5576>, Honour <5091> thy father <3962> and thy mother <3384>. {21} And he said <2036>, All <3956> these <5023> have I kept <5442> from my youth <3503> up. {22} Now <1161> when Jesus <2424> heard <191> these <5023> things, he said <2036> unto him, Yet <2089> lackest <3007> thou one <1520> thing: sell <4453> all <3956> that thou hast <2192>, and distribute <1239> unto the poor <4434>, and thou shalt have <2192> treasure <2344> in heaven <3772>: and come <1204>, follow <190> me.

NRSV - 18 A certain ruler asked him, "Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?" 19 Jesus said to him, "Why do you call me good? No one is good but God alone. 20 You know the commandments: "You shall not commit adultery; You shall not murder; You shall not steal; You shall not bear false witness; Honor your father and mother."' 21 He replied, "I have kept all these since my youth." 22 When Jesus heard this, he said to him, "There is still one thing lacking. Sell all that you own and distribute the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me."

TEV - "The Rich Man" - 18 A Jewish leader asked Jesus, "Good Teacher, what must I do to receive eternal life?" 19 "Why do you call me good?" Jesus asked him. "No one is good except God alone. 20 You know the commandments: "Do not commit adultery; do not commit murder; do not steal; do not accuse anyone falsely; respect your father and your mother." 21 The man replied, "Ever since I was young, I have obeyed all these commandments." 22 When Jesus heard this, he said to him, "There is still one more thing you need to do. Sell all you have and give the money to the poor, and you will have riches in heaven; then come and follow me." 23 But when the man heard this, he became very sad, because he was very rich.

NRSV - 1 After Jesus had finished all his sayings in the hearing of the people, he entered Capernaum.

11 Soon afterwards he went to a town called Nain, and his disciples and a large crowd went with him. 12 As he approached the gate of the town, a man who had died was being carried out. He was his mother's only son, and she was a widow; and with her was a large crowd from the town. 13 When the Lord saw her, he had compassion for her and said to her, "Do not weep." 14 Then he came forward and touched the bier, and the bearers stood still. And he said, "Young man, I say to you, rise!" 15 The dead man sat up and began to speak, and Jesus gave him to his mother. 16 Fear seized all of them; and they glorified God, saying, "A great prophet has risen among us!" and "God has looked favorably on his people!"

TEV - "Jesus Heals a Roman Officer's Servant" - 1 When Jesus had finished saying all these things to the people, he went to Capernaum. 2 A Roman officer there had a servant who was very dear to him; the man was sick and about to die. 3 When the officer heard about Jesus, he sent some Jewish elders to ask him to come and heal his servant. 4 They came to Jesus and begged him earnestly, "This man really deserves your help. 5 He loves our people and he himself built a synagogue for us."

"Jesus Raises a Widow's Son" - 11 Soon afterward Jesus went to a town named Nain, accompanied by his disciples and a large crowd. 12 Just as he arrived at the gate of the town, a funeral procession was coming out. The dead man was the only son of a woman who was a widow, and a large crowd from the town was with her. 13 When the Lord saw her, his heart was filled with pity for her, and he said to her, "Don't cry." 14 Then he walked over and touched the coffin, and the men carrying it stopped. Jesus said, "Young man! Get up, I tell you!" 15 The dead man sat up and began to talk, and Jesus gave him back to his mother. 16 They all were filled with fear and praised God. "A great prophet has appeared among us!" they said; "God has come to save his people!" 17 This news about Jesus went out through all the country and the surrounding territory.

NRSV - 55 "Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?"

57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

TEV - "The Resurrection Body" - 55 "Where, Death, is your victory? Where, Death, is your power to hurt?" 56 Death gets its power to hurt from sin, and sin gets its power from the Law. 57 But thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ! 58 So then, my dear brothers, stand firm and steady.

NRSV - 1 After Jesus had spoken these words, he looked up to heaven and said, "Father, the hour has come; glorify your Son so that the Son may glorify you, 2 since you have given him authority over all people, to give eternal life to all whom you have given him. 3 And this is eternal life, that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent. 4 I glorified you on earth by finishing the work that you gave me to do. 5 So now, Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory that I had in your presence before the world existed. 6 "I have made your name known to those whom you gave me from the world. They were yours, and you gave them to me, and they have kept your word.

19 And for their sakes I sanctify myself, so that they also may be sanctified in truth. 20 "I ask not only on behalf of these, but also on behalf of those who will believe in me through their word,

25 "Righteous Father, the world does not know you, but I know you; and these know that you have sent me. 26 I made your name known to them, and I will make it known, so that the love with which you have loved me may be in them, and I in them."

TEV - "Jesus Prays for His Disciples" - 1 After Jesus finished saying this, he looked up to heaven and said, "Father, the hour has come. Give glory to your Son, so that the Son may give glory to you. 2 For you gave him authority over all mankind, so that he might give eternal life to all those you gave him. 3 And eternal life means to know you, the only true God, and to know Jesus Christ, whom you sent. 4 I have shown your glory on earth; I have finished the work you gave me to do. 5 Father! Give me glory in your presence now, the same glory I had with you before the world was made. 6 "I have made you known to those you gave me out of the world. They belonged to you, and you gave them to me. They have obeyed your word, 7 and now they know that everything you gave me comes from you. 8 I gave them the message that you gave me, and they received it; they know that it is true that I came from you, and they believe that you sent me. 13 And now I am coming to you, and I say these things in the world so that they might have my joy in their hearts in all its fullness. 14 I gave them your message, and the world hated them, because they do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to the world. 15 I do not ask you to take them out of the world, but I do ask you to keep them safe from the Evil One. 16 Just as I do not belong to the world, they do not belong to the world. 17 Dedicate them to yourself by means of the truth; your word is truth. 18 I sent them into the world, just as you sent me into the world. 19 And for their sake I dedicate myself to you, in order that they, too, may be truly dedicated to you. 20 "I pray not only for them, but also for those who believe in me because of their message. 21 I pray that they may all be one. Father! May they be in us, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they be one, so that the world will believe that you sent me. 22 I gave them the same glory you gave me, so that they may be one, just as you and I are one: 23 I in them and you in me, so that they may be completely one, in order that the world may know that you sent me and that you love them as you love me. 24 "Father! You have given them to me, and I want them to be with me where I am, so that they may see my glory, the glory you gave me; for you loved me before the world was made. 25 Righteous Father! The world does not know you, but I know you, and these know that you sent me. 26 I made you known to them, and I will continue to do so, in order that the love you have for me may be in them, and so that I also may be in them."

TEV - "The Enemy of Christ" - 22 Who, then, is the liar? It is anyone who says that Jesus is not the Messiah. Such a person is the Enemy of Christ -- he rejects both the Father and the Son. 23 For whoever rejects the Son rejects also the Father; whoever accepts the Son has the Father also. 24 Be sure, then, to keep in your hearts the message you heard from the beginning. If you keep that message, then you will always live in union with the Son and the Father. 25 And this is what Christ himself promised to give us -- eternal life.
